Bathroom Rag Rug: What Happened After I Washed It

Differential shrinkage at its worst! LOL! I machine washed it in warm water and used medium heat in the dryer.

What happened? The orange t-shirts were obviously not the same fiber content, I'm guessing a cotton/poly blend while the others are cotton. I thought the rest of it tightened up nicely. Maybe I'll cut it up to make pot holders. 😂

Wow! I never would have thought of it. I guess that is because at one time, most clothing items were made out of the same materials. Now there is a wide variety of "starting materials", as it were.

Oh dear. I would have been so disappointed; you have a great attitude!

TB, neither did I! I specifically looked for cotton t-shirts in the beginning, but I think I got distracted when it became difficult to find the colors I wanted. A lot of t's are cotton-poly blends, and polyester doesn't shrink.

I have had disproportionate shrinkage with jackets. Oftentimes the lining fabric is synthetic, even though the outer fabric is cotton (denim). So the cotton shrinks but the lining doesn't. Does some odd things to the way the jacket hangs.

Michelle, disappointment was one of my reactions, right after "OH NO!" What else can I do but laugh and learn?Tomorrow's post will be my takeaways from this experience as well as a plan forward. :)
