SURVEY: Floors under Floor Looms?

I'm interested in your preference! What kind of floor do you like to set your loom up on?
  1. Carpet
  2. Area rug
  3. Bare floor (wood? tile? laminate? concrete?)
  4. Something else?
  5. No preference?
I'd love to know your preference and reason.

I prefer a bare floor. Right now my looms are on laminate, but I've had them on wood too. It's just so much easier to clean the fiber bunnies.

Since I really didn't have a choice about where to put my loom, I didn't even think of floor surface options. But the very low profile "office carpet" that is in my bonus room seems to work well. It helps that my little four-shaft jack loom is light and easy to move to vacuum under it.

I like wooden floors. Currently my Gilmore is on carpet that is floor to floor upstairs in the fiber room.
I haven’t done a project on it yet as I have towels on my rigid heddle that is downstairs to take advantage of the lighting and proximity to the wood stove.

It is stretched pretty tight over the floor and padding plus level. I will know when I give it a spin. But I am not expecting issues. Except vacuuming as it is not movable without two + people.

Carpet, carpet underlay + carpet, area rug. Because my space is so limited, I need to be able to move the loom from time to time. Regardless, my big loom won't budge, though, but at least it doesn't travel, and it most definitely would if on wooden floor. Interested to see diverse opinion, though.

Thank you so much for the comments! And for the reasons for preferences. I'm looking at finally setting up my Glimakra, and the room has a wood floor, but it's in terrible condition. Really needs covering. My concern with carpet or a large area rug is cleaning underneath, but I just may have to put up with it until someday when we can put a new floor down in the room. It's nice to hear pluses and minuses for both options.
