Black Weft MTW

I had a little bit of multi-color warp left from first multiple tabby weave sampler, so I wove off the rest with a black 8/2 cotton weft.

Multiple tabby weave with rainbow warp & black weft.
I like the almost three dimensional look, but now I wish I had woven some with white weft too. Just to see what it would have looked like. I may try that in the future sometime, before I move on from multiple tabby weaves, but at the moment I have other ideas I want to experiment with. One of the ways I amuse myself while I weave is to wonder how it would look if I changed something; weft color; warp color, treadling, tie-up, something.

The finished piece is about 15 by 43 inches, so I'm not sure what to do with it. Yet.

I like the colors it looks wonderful. From the photo it look as if it has a raised puckered effect. Do you think you can make a pillow or neck roll out of it?

My suspicion is that the white weft would have been nice on the light colored stripes, but not so nice on the dark colored stripes. But you never really know unless you try!
I'm looking forward to your next experiments. And I think this might look lively draped over something--loom, chair, books--because it is such a happy piece. Even hung on a wall! I would enjoy just looking at it from time to time.

Whwite seems to lighten colors - sometimes making them appear pastel. Black just seems to intensify everything and make colors pop, IMHO.
I'm always buying, wearing out, black jeans for rag rugs using colorful warps - just to be different than the blue jeans rugs.

I love the black weft more than any of the others. How intense!!! Great idea!!!

Forget the white. It's just beautiful the way it is. I am not a huge bright color person, but that is just fabulous!

The black really does make the colors pop. Kind of reinforces my general tact of going with darker wefts when given a choice.

So pretty! How about a big huge pillow for His Highness The Royal Rascal to lay on Ha, Ha. It would make a colorful pillow - or pillows - back it with a red or blue... T.

A visual treat! Just enjoy the sampling and keep looking at it from time to time to spark other ideas.

This is so pretty, Leigh! Although white is a dangerous colour it might have worked here, too, I think. It would be interesting to know.
