Sometimes inspiration comes from unexpected places:
That “Oh, no” moment led to an idea:
Each scarf is 6 inches wide, so I can sew three together to make the body of the bag with an 18 inch width. I'll use another sample scarf for the ends. Haven't decided about the bottom yet.

I reckon a couple of miles ought to do. I’m thinking about braiding it to make it sturdier.

Rascal's personality sounds a lot like Jazzy (who turned out to be too spicy for her original name, Jasmine).
The bag sounds like a great idea. Wonder if you could find a matching, sturdy commercial fabric for the bottom of the bag. Perhaps cotton duck/canvas, or even a brown denim?
Speaking of bags...the one on this blog has me intrigued: http://www.paperandthreads.com/2006/08/edm_challenge_78_a_souvenir.php
Great idea! I agree with Valerie. I like to wrap plastic needlepoint canvas with fabric to give the bottom strength and stability. Have fun with that cord ;-)
Hi Leigh,
I have had good success with felted Icord for straps. If it fits in with your sample bag it might save you having to do 3 times the length.

Oh my! Go away for a few days and look what happens! You have gotten so much done! Your samples are great and I love the idea of a bag. And I have seen much felted I cord used with great success for handles. Cant wait to see the finished product!
