Mysterious Weaving Problem

The other day I sat down to weave on my winter leaf motif, and discovered there was a problem with the pattern.

I hadn't changed anything, so what was going on??? I wove through the entire treadle sequence and was able to identify the culprit as treadle #1. But what could it be? I hadn't changed the threading, I hadn't changed the tension, the treadle itself seemed to be in order, nor was the warp caught on something.

Next I inspected the lamms.

The problem, I discovered, is that one of the anchor pins was missing. I found it across the floor. How in the world had it gotten over there?

I didn't have to search far for the answer.

This is Violet, the newest member of our household. She had been playing with the treadle cords but II didn't think she could actually make some mischief! You can read here story here.

Happily, the fix was an easy one and I'm back to weaving the pattern as it should be.

  1. Having read your other blog post, I was pretty sure there was a cat involved. And you answered my other question: so her name is Violet.

    1. Valerie, I seem to have quite a few tales of cats and weaving problems. :) Actually, at the moment I'm able to do very little with yarn, string, or sticks! She's just too playful.

Yes, Violet! Or at least we're trying it on to see if it sticks.

  2. Oh, the little stinker! I have the same problem with my Sophie Kitty and knitting. You should see the lengths that I have had to go to though it's been way too hot to knit right now.

On the other hand, I just really love her especially right now because we just lost Molly Cat. Sigh. We will eventually get another cat or kitten. We are just not ready yet. The house seems quieter.

    1. Katie, it's the nature of energetic kittens, isn't it? :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your Molly. It's always hard to lose one. The loss of their presence makes a huge difference, doesn't it?
